Yan Carlos Artime Born on February 26, 1971 in Havana, Cuba. His father Carlos Artime, architect, painter, and ceramist. His mother Arline Pérez, pianist. At the age of eight, he began his violin studies at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory in Havana under the tutelage of the Soviet teacher Alla Tarán. At the same time, he studied piano and his eagerness for this instrument led him to spend long hours of practice. After eleven years of intense education, Yan Carlos graduated as a violinist and pianist at the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory in Havana, dominating both classical and popular music, especially Jazz. In 1991, he obtained a position as violinist of the Symphonic Orchestra of Matanzas. In turn, he already works as a professional, interpreting all types of music as pianist and as a violinist. A year later, he became a pianist of the jazz quartet "Fusion 4", with which he participated among other things in the International Festival Jazz Plaza 1993. During 1994, he was pianist of the band "J.B.", directed by the teacher Joaquin Betancourt. There he had the opportunity to play Cuban dance music and Latin Jazz. It happens to be pianist of the group "Something New" in 1995, with which it continues the previous line of work.  At the end of that year, the group "Otra Visión" was created, being pianist founder of the same one. This grouping is directed by the Cuban flutist Orlando Maraca Valle, ex- member of the famous orchestra Irakere.  The following year, he participated in the first recording of that group called "Havana Calling", mixing Cuban, contemporary music, Latin Jazz and folklor. Together with "Otra Visión", he makes his first international tour that takes him to France, Italy and culminating in the Montreaux Jazz Festival of Switzerland. Then he returns to Cuba to continue with live presentations and promotional tours. For 1997, he travels to Cannes-France, participating in the prestigious world fair of the disc "Middem 1997" and continues to Paris for presentations in halls such as "New Morning" and "Hot Brass". Shortly thereafter, he toured nine cities in France alongside Otra Visión. He left Cuba in 1998 and settled in San Juan, Puerto Rico with his father. He is immediately recruited by the cuatrista Pedro Guzmán and his "Jíbaro Jazz". Record with the CD "El artesano", participating as a pianist and arranger. He continued to make his way and traveled with the group "Los Chicos" to Guatemala. When he returns, he records in the CDs "With soul of child" and "Rumbajazz-Tribute to Chombo". His performance with the Batacumbele group led him to make several presentations with them, including the Chicago Jazz Fest 2000 in Illinois, United States and in 2002 he performs with Pedro Guzmán at the Heineken Jazz Festival of Curaçao. In 2003, he joined Ramón Vázquez Quartet, performing at Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Fest that year, participating in the recording of Ramón Vázquez, "On the Move" as a pianist and composer and performing at the VI Jazz Fest Dominican Republic.  He works with the singer Glenn Monroig in the special of the Banco Popular "Ocho Puertas" and serves as pianist, composer and arranger of the CD "Popssical" by Juan Carlos Vega. At the end of this year he produces "Obviamente", musical project of "Landy" Olivera, singer-songwriter.  Parallel to this, he decides to make his own proposal a reality as a musician, culminating in 2009 "Memories of the Wind", a work that undoubtedly marks a new stage in his career as a pianist, composer, arranger and music producer.
